• Fascinating panel discussion of the scifi virtual reality series Defrost with actors and filmmakers. Interesting comment that the actors have theatre background which is very useful for shooting VR in that it is very similar to theatre in the round except it’s “inverse round” so that instead of the audience around the actors the actors are around a single viewer (they also made a point of having eye contact with the camera as you want connection and presence with the audience whereas in film one looks to the side of the camera rather than connects with it). On a technical note, the first episode was done with two Go-Pro cameras with fish eye lenses with their backs pretty much duct taped together while the later episodes were done with the Ozo camera by Nokia (funding is a wonderful thing).
